Audio Screen

The beep hearing test (pure-tone audiometry) is a type of hearing assessment used to determine the quietest sounds heard at various pitches or frequencies.

Data Inputs
Questionnaire Yes
Measurements Yes
Lab results No

Interpretations are based on tests conducted in accordance with WHO guidelines, using a threshold of 40dB and a minimum of four test frequencies: 500 kHz, 1000 kHz, 2000 kHz, and 4000 kHz.

Questionnaire

A single conditional question is presented in the client questionnaire. Do you have an existing hearing problem?

Measurements

If the client has an existing hearing problem, no measurements will be presented.

2 conditional questions are completed by the provider:

  • Does the client currently have an active ear or upper respiratory infection? - if Yes, no further measurements will be presented.
  • Has the client been exposed to loud noise in the last 16 hours e.g. concert, night club or air travel? - If Yes, no further measurements will be presented.

On completion of the beep test:

  • Input the audio screen result
  • Functionality is available to upload a PDF copy of the audiogram report.

Results are classified using a colour-coded system:

🟢 Green flag: Indicates the audio screen result was a pass

🟡 Amber flag: Indicates the audio screen result was a fail

🔵 Blue flag: Indicates an audio screen was not performed
