People with untreated atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat, are five times more likely to have a stroke; however, a simple pulse check can help prevent this.
This health category comprises questionnaire data on personal and family history of atrial fibrillation, measurement of heart rate and a pulse check for regularity.
Based on the medical history, heart rate and pulse regularity, results are classified using a colour-coded system:
🟢 Green flag: Regular pulse
🟡 Amber flag: Irregular pulse, heart rate < 106 and previous diagnosis of atrial fibrillation.
🔴 Red flag: Irregular pulse +/- heart rate > 106 and +/- previous diagnosis of atrial fibrillation.
The Heart rate category should be used in conjunction with this module to provide interpretation of heart rate.
