Fasting and Random Glucose

A product can include either Fasting Glucose or Random Glucose as a test type. 

This article will outline:

  • How to set up a Product for Fasting or Random Glucose.
  • Actions to take if a Fasting glucose result is imported when a Random Glucose result is the selected test type.

Product settings for Fasting Glucose

The following product settings should be used if you wish to include fasting glucose in a Product.

  • From the top bar click on More  > select Products from the drop-down menu > click on New Product.
  • Under Processing Options select Fasting. 
  • Under Test Types select Fasting Glucose.
  • When you have selected all required test types to set up your Product > click Create Product.

Product settings for Random Glucose

The following product settings should be used if you wish to include random glucose in a Product.

  • From the top bar click on More  > select Products from the drop-down menu > click on New Product.
  • Under Test Types select Random Glucose.
  • When you have selected all required test types to set up your Product > click Create Product.

 

The management of a Fasting Glucose result when a client did not fast will vary based on Laboratory import codes.  Please contact support@fullhealthmedical.com for advice on which of the following processes should be followed.

Shared Fasting and Random Glucose import code.

If the laboratory uses a single code for Fasting and Random Glucose, all results will import labelled as Fasting Glucose.

If a client did not fast, use the following steps to relabel the result from Fasting to Random:

  • Open the client Medical > click Edit > deselect the Fasting processing option after the result has imported > click Submit.
  • The result will be relabeled as Random Glucose.
 

Unique Fasting and Random Glucose import codes.

If the laboratory uses unique codes for Fasting and Random Glucose, results will populate as defined on the laboratory patient request.

If Fasting Glucose is included in a client medical and a Random Glucose result is received: 

  • Open the client Medical > click Edit > deselect the Fasting processing option > click Submit.

If Random Glucose is included in a client medical and a Fasting Glucose result is received:

  • Open the client Medical > click Edit > select the Fasting processing option > click Submit.
